Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property and child custody battles. child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and issues involving children's welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice was not limited to her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law including custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the aim of providing an individual approach to each client's need.
