THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate and estate administration as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law, including custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
