THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts and estate administration as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid the court process and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond her legal practice as she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.

In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce – as well as financial planning and estate planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
